RE: Beaudry RV Files Chapter 11

I stopped by yesterday to kick some tires and there was a noticable doom and gloom in the air...looked like they moved a lot of the inventory somewhere else or it could have been the removal of the fleetwood line they lost earlier...sad times for the dealers but good time for us buyers...

RE: Learned somthing about the Dynasty this week!

-------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote: What I learned, by "reading the manuals" was that the AC's work down to temps in the low 20's and then the Propane furnace automatically kicks in to heat the coach. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Bill are you sure that the manual said they would work in the "low 20's"..?...most heat pumps will only operate down to the low 40's as the coil temp drops below freezing and then you have the ice issue, unless you have supplemental electric heat on the coils or you live in the dry southwest...just curious...

RE: Used Allegro or Country Coach???

Well I'll add some more fuel...I have had my CC, a '99 for almost six years...have been thinking about trading up and started looking at Monaco's...now before I get shot Monaco makes a great coach but its not a CC...the quality I have found in my CC over other coaches is what stands out to me...the more I looked the more I finally just said I'll keep the one I have...runs great and at 119,000 miles it still does not rattle...BTW you can have Cummins upgrade the 330 to a 350 with just a reflash of the computer...good luck in you decision...

RE: 06 Monaco Diplomat - Touch up paint - thinner?

You may find that Monaco is now using Sikkens paint...I did a tour this summer and noticed the cans on the floor...the tour gal said they had changed a few years back...like others have said try the website and see what they say...I found a local dealer and bought what I needed to repaint my front cap...Sikkens is not cheap...one of the best out there...

RE: Microwave loose and flimsy

Most microwaves I have worked on both in the home and motorhomes have a metal plate screwed to the back wall...The microwave then hooks the bottom rear edge of the oven to this wall bracket and the front is either screwed by the angle long screws as pointed out earlier or by a couple of screws that come down from the top. Once all are tight there usually are no rattles...You can usually go on-line with your model number and get the installation instructions to see what kind of mounting brackets you have, or should have...

RE: Air Bag Question...

If I dump the air on my coach lets say to level it and have the park brake activated, in fact that is the only way it will level itself automatically, then the bags will not inflate until I turn off the HWH auto leveling system. Once I do that then the system returns to "Travel Mode" with the green lite lit. Is it possible that you still had the system in the dump mode or at least not in the "Travel Mode"..?

RE: Decision on Alpine Coach

Get yourself ready to buy - IE financing etc. then go in person with a substantial deposit in a money order. Once you've done the preliminary check out, make that low ball offer with the deposit refundable should the unit fail mechanical inspection. That shows you're serious. He probably won't take it but at least you've shown yourself to be a serious buyer not a tire kicker. See what he comes back with. With that money order in hand in person you'll get a good idea of what the seller really will take. When he refuses tell him you're going to keep looking and he has until you've found another unit to counter with an offer you'll take. Now you'll have to figure out what is the right price?? $60K or 75 or 80??? That's your call. I disagree 100%. Thats just playing "funny games" is all. Make a serious bid and stick to it...its not like this is the last one there is out there! I eat; drink and tell jokes...but I dont play funny games. I quit school because they had recess! I gotta side with Driveby on this one...whats the old saying..."Cash Is King"...with so many rigs collecting dust you never know how one will react to any offer...now if the market was different then you play different...and who is to say that we are at the bottom, I for one believe prices are going to drop even lower...to me it's a fun part of the process...just don't let yourself get emotional in the dickering...if you do its all over...good luck and have some fun...

RE: Decision on Alpine Coach

I see your from TN, not close to Oregon...however when I was at Guarantee last summer kicking tires the salesman tried his best to get me into a Alpine...They had 8 or 10 brand new ones they were making, as he said, super deals...wouldn't hurt to call them and see what they are willing to do...Alpine was on my short list before I bought my CC...good luck

RE: Country Coach! Talk about a BUMMER!

So Sully...do they still help you out with problems when you call or is the service dept now at the dealers...I sure hope not because it is one of the high points to me that the service dept was always ready to help with any kind of service request I had...I do know that the last time I was at the factory (summer of '08)I couldn't get my coach serviced as they were only doing warranty work on new ones...that was a bummer...

RE: Anyone using or used bridgestone tires?

I have had two sets on my 36' DP...first set were the R-250's and the second set are R-260's...don't make the 250's any more...Can't say a bad word about them...the ride is good as any tire I guess...Put about 50,000 on the first set and changed them after 5 1/2 years due to small sidewall cracks...Have about 15,000 on the new set and so far all is well...I will admit the 260's at first were a little squishy, I believe it's because they have a bit more tread then the 250's but after a couple of thousand miles they settled down...when I turned in the R-250's they still had 11/32nds left out of 22/32nds they started with...I'll give them an A+ rating...good luck

RE: Anybody use NAPA oil filters for Cummins?

I just love these threads...a guy asks a simple question about using a filter and we have 5 pages of this one is better than that one...I have been using both Fleetguard and NAPA Gold and at present, 120,000 miles on a '99 ISC 350 and still running strong...If I am near Cummins I'll buy the fleetguard, if close to NAPA I'll get the Gold...works for me...usually change the oil and filters twice a year...fuel and ES filters once a year...Go get em Sully...LMAO..

RE: DASH AC HAS VACUUM PROBLEM

Agree with others...it is a vaccumn leak...how to find it is the issue...it is labor intensive...I would first look at the vaccumn actuators, the part that actually moves the arm for the dampers...if not found there then start looking at all of the lines...you can pull a line and plug it and then check the system to see if it holds..if it does you found the leak...if not move to the next one...if you can get hold of a vaccumn pump then just hook it up to the line that comes from the engine...that way you don't have to keep starting and stopping the main engine...good luck and let us know what you find...

RE: Country Coach enthusiasts...

I just read where Country Coach just laid off another 100 employees this week. They are operating only a limited schedule, but are currently closed. I think there are some real hard times currently with CC as well as the RV industry in general. The real question at this time is, will CC be able to weather this storm, as CC has been running on a tight rope for the past couple years and this just may be the proverbial straw that breaks the camels back, if you will. I guess time will tell. I was talking to a salesman at Guarantey in Coburg, OR. the other day and we got on the subject of the downturn and how it has affected the RV industry. His take, and I'm not sure I totally agrree was the only two left to be standing if this downturn hangs on for awhile, will be Newmar and Tiffin as they both are privetly owned.

RE: Country Coach enthusiasts...

Mine is a 98 model with mileage to match. Getting to the "upgrade or break" stage with house components and things like wiper motors, but still I rank this a very well made coach. Still drives like a dream, even without a tag. For the money required to buy a newer model, I think I'll stay put for now, but I am glad I bought a CC, even though I didn't research the buy well enough before pulling the trigger. You should always do your homework before you fall in love. I am beginning to feel like I am "homeworked" to death....but, you are so right!! What Boxer said is very true...I took 3 1/2 yrs before I bought mine and I feel it was well woth the wait...have fun kicking the tires and good luck in your quest...BTW many of the dealers are offering huge discounts as the iron just sits on the lots...I believe as buyers we are somewhat in the "Drivers Seat"...

RE: Country Coach enthusiasts...

We have a '99 Allure, 36'...had it for 5+ yrs...no major problems and any of the small problems were supported by CC tech dept...well built and still runs down the road without any rattles...good luck in your search... I've been looking at Allure floorplans. I don't want a washer/dryer, but I do want that "closet space," and I need it outside the bedroom. I own a 36 Allure ( 2000 model) single slide ...NO W/D! ( Wouldnt have one) No intentions to EVER get rid of it unless I hit the PowerBall....all by myself!...:B You know...I think Sully works directly for Country Coach...he probably has the CC emblem embroidered on his shorts...LOL Burro65 I am looking to trade up to a newer model so I will PM you and we can stay in touch...

RE: La Mesa RV

I agree with most of the posters...Even though I will not walk onto their lot, I wish they would close down in Mesa, AZ...I tried one time to talk to them about an Alpine and never could get a straight answer...they remind me of the early day car salesmen...sleazy and slippery...

RE: Roof AC

On my last two RV's, if you put it on automatic, the fan will cycle on and off with the compressor. If you want a constant sound all night, set the fan to low, med or high. The compressor will cycle as needed but not make any more additional noise when it comes on. I thought that it was hard on the compressor if the fan was set on low. Explain why you think this. RV roof AC units are designed to operate at all fans speeds. Doug Doug if you are asking if the A/C can operate at any of the fan speeds the answer is yes...mine will work on either low or high speed...I don't have a med speed...a/c's are generally designed for 400 cfm per ton of refrigeration effect...you can lower or raise this cfm to a certian point without damage to the system...I'm guessing the manufactures gave us this option for noise control...hope this answered your question...
